One Mix for a Certain Mood
I just checked my own blog and realized that the last post about Assassins has been up for a LONG time.
Once you don't talk to people for a week or so, it's easy to become jealous of strangers. And even easier to be jealous of acquaintances. Eeek! Then it's time to CALL SOMEONE.
I've decided going to What the Heck Fest probably isn't worth it. Someone would have to convince me to do it. There are requirements! First of all, a party of five or six people is needed. I learned that from Sasquatch.. lest we are outnumbered by our beer-guzzling bretheren. Second, we need to secure campsites near showers. Showers that we don't have to wait for two hours to use. Not to mention, the Fest is 8+ hours away. Oh, bother. Adrian is coming to Eugene in August! Thank god! If I'm willing to drive seven hours to see the Shins, I'll certainly see Thanksgiving @ Stonehenge. And I'm not giving it up this time.
For the past two weeks I've been trying in vain to get a desirable summer job. The fact that I could make money kind of blows my mind. The minimum wage in Oregon is NOT cheap. Hell yes. Anthony has to work in Pennsylvania for $5.15 an hour. Along with everybody else I know who lives in Pennsylvania. If I could just get a job, I could buy a moped or a pony in no time.
Really, I just can't wait to get back to Bard. Here's why:
*I'm living in Manor next year, which is a sweet mansion next to the Hudson. It has a red carpeted staircase!
*I'm taking experimental dance classes and Spanish Cinema. Allmooodooovaar.
*Christine will be living right downstairs, and I have a strong suspicion that her private bathtub is made of marble.
*I'll get to room with Sylvia, and she is super chill.
*The food will be so much better than last year, and much closer to my room.
*Anthony!
*Upstate Films and grocery shopping. Hell yes, Christine is bringing her car. I shall worship it/her/it again.
Anna is coming home tonight from Poland. She's been touring cathedrals in Europe with her choir. It will be wonderful to see her again, I bet she's changed a lot. Everyone I know has changed, even my parents. I'm trying really hard to break opinions about people that I take for granted. I can't say that I really KNOW people that I haven't seen for 4/9 months. I need to give friends more chances, and I'm sorry if I've cut you short.
Tricia is in Chicago until late August. Bother! I finished Goong, which we started watching together on spring break. I don't like the ending, and if the second season continues in the same fashion I'm going to be really disappointed. They don't even start filming the next installments until this August. In Korea. Who knows when it may hit the interweb.
It's important that people that I love never leave me. True friends don't have to solve your problems. The best thing someone can do for you is just hold you when you are sad. I will always need someone to do that, and maybe that means that I will never completely grow up. But I don't want to be a complete "adult," if it means being detached.
And a last thought, iTunes is now playing "I'll be seeing you" sung by Iggy Pop and Francoise Hardy. I can still remember Rose and Drew's faces when I played it to them. Kind of a gaping, cringing horror. As someone just said "eat this moldy foie gras!" Haha, I enjoy it anyway.
Love, Maia
